Nabha Sahib Gurdwara

Nabha Sahib Gurdwara is located on the road to Patiala, which is about 15 kms away from the city of gardens. This pilgrimage spot reminds us of the history of Sikhs dating back to 1695. Chandigarh Nabha Sahib Gurdwara has a lot of religious significance. It is said that after the execution of Guru Tegh Bahadur in Delhi, there was one Bhai Jaita, who had picked up the body of the Guru for its cremation at the Anandpur Sahib. While he was on his way back, he kept the mortal remains in the Gurudwara Nabha Sahib near Chandigarh at the request of a disciple of the Guru, who was an aged Muslim saint named Dargahi Shah Faqir. People gathered here to pay their last respect to the Guru.

Through Bhai Jaita, Dargahi Shah Faqir sent a message requesting Guru Gobind Singh to visit him, as he was too old to travel to Anandpur Sahib. After fighting the battle against the Mughals, Guru Gobind Singhji reached the Nabha Sahib Gurudwara in 1968 to pay homage to his father. Thereafter, he met the Faqir, who died soon after. The samadhi of the Faqir was made in the vicinity of the shrine. When people visit the Gurudwara, they do visit the Samadhi to pay homage to the Faqir.
